So, I've wanted to do something like this for a long long time.

This is a post for all of you, everyone out there who may feel sad and alone or fearful. Take a look at this, smile, be encouraged. You're on my mind and though we may not know each other you mean something to me.

So the other day I was making a list of some 'classic' general fics for someone newer to the community and I know there's a few other 'newbie' guides out there, but hopefully this will only further help everyone :)

Under The Cut :
- Some 'classic' recs for general, wincest, and j2.
- Some must see videos for the fandom.
- Where to find... (icons, headers, other graphics.)
- Helpful links/communities.

I ask you to note that while this is to help people newer to the fandom become familiar with some of the areas there are that it can also help older fans expand their horizon and find some new favorites, perhaps.

Step One
• Make an LJ post. It can be public or friends only, whatever you’re most comfortable with.
The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes, and these wishes can be anything - from simple (a fan fiction written about your favorite pairing), to medium (a DVD you want), to really extravagant (a brand new laptop or car).
Just make sure these are wishes for things you really truly want.

Step Two
• Skim through your friends list and see who has posted their own wish lists.
Then - and this is the most important part - if you find a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make sure that person’s wish comes true.
Sometimes a person’s trash is another person’s treasure.
If you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you’re never going to use, give it to someone who wants it.

Step Three
• Post this wish list any time after November 1st. Then repost it two weeks before Christmas.

• You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to.
The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday fairy--to spread the joy.
Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

• There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached.
Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive.
And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Summary : How can a vampire love?
Notes : This was written on a whim. I don't really know how it came to be but it did. There are a couple Swedish words which are translated at the bottom. I don't speak Swedish so this is relying on the lovely world of online dictionaries to give me the correct words. Apologies if it's not. Thank you to Rabi and Britt who helped cheer me on while writing this and Cael and Lizzie who gave me their thoughts on things.

What I use to keep my computer safe and clean.

First of all for cleaning the computer of all that extra gunk that bogs up and ends up slowing the computer down I use :

I try to run it at least once a week. It's fairly quick except for if you wait a long time/haven't done it before, and it's really lovely. Plus it has some other neat features.

For the spybots I use a wonderful program called Spybot Search & Destroy

This is really good at finding those things that like to hide in your computer.

For overall protection from viruses I use AVG :

ALL of these are free. I've used them together for over a year now and they work wonderfully, I quite enjoy them.

With Spybot S&D there is also a part of it called tea timer that pops up whenever your computer is changing data so that you can approve/reject the action. I personally ex out of this but it's nice to have if you're worried about your computer doing something without your permission.
